Damage Claims

How to file a claim with Southern Shores Moving Services LLC for a damaged or missing item, what your move is covered for, and what to expect.

We take care with every item we touch, and when something goes wrong we want to make it right. Claims are handled in writing, through this page, so every claim gets the same fair review against the same records. Our movers and phone staff are not able to negotiate, discount, or settle a claim on the spot; that is in the terms you signed, and it protects you as much as us.

What you'll need

  • The phone number on your quote and your move date.
  • For each item: a clear description, the kind of damage, when you noticed it, whether it was in a box and who packed that box, your best estimate of its weight, and the amount you are asking for.
  • At least one photo per item. For damage, a photo of the damage. For a missing item, a photo of the box it was packed in (or an old photo of the item or its receipt), or, if it was not in a box, a photo of the piece of furniture it was in. Claims without photos cannot be filed.
  • About ten minutes. You must finish in one sitting; the form does not save a draft.

What happens after you file

  1. Confirmation. You get a claim number and a private link to track the claim.
  2. Review. We compare your items and photos against the crew's move-day records and the terms you signed.
  3. Questions. If we need more, we ask through your claim page. You have 14 days to respond; after that the claim closes as incomplete (it can be reopened when you reply).
  4. Written decision. Item by item, citing the terms it rests on. Our target is a decision within 30 days of a complete claim.
  5. Settlement. If an amount is approved, you accept by signing a release on your claim page. Payment is issued within 10 business days of a signed release, as a credit to the card you paid with (or by check if you paid in cash).

Disputes that cannot be resolved this way are governed by the arbitration and small-claims provisions of your signed terms (Alabama law, Mobile County).
